Math And Special Education Teacher, Exam Prep

I am a Stuyvesant High School graduate, with an bachelors degree in pure math, and a masters degree in math special education. I have been an educator for over eight years. I am able to quickly identify specific content areas of need based off of a student's practice test performance, and then teach the content and skills in depth. I also directly teach test-taking strategies, as well as strategic use of a calculator (when appropriate). I work very carefully and compassionately with all students, building off of their strengths and their learning styles, and meeting them where they are. I have extensive experience working with students with disabilities (autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, speech/language impairments, etc.), and with gifted students. I appreciate getting to know each student whom I have the honor to teach. I believe that every student deserves to feel capable, to feel intelligent, and to experience self-trust. My deepest desire is to show students how capable they are, and to connect them to their own minds and their own creativity and ability to analyze, use logic, and think critically. I believe that if a student is struggling, there is always a reason, and it is never the student's fault. We can work together to find a comfortable path through the math content at hand, with an emphasis on creating a strong and deep mathematical foundation from which to tackle all future math challenges.
